Feel Drained No More
The kitchen may be widely recognized as being the heart of the home, where people gather and life unfolds, however, it can certainly be said that an ensuite is an equally important space as it fosters restoration and rejuvenation.
THE CONCEPT
By reassigning the original walk-in closet’s available square footage, we expanded the footprint of the ensuite to allow for a wet room which now accommodates a large walk-in shower and separate bathtub. This was achieved by integrating the closet space into the footprint of the ensuite.
PLANNING & ELEVATIONS
By reassigning the two rooms available square footage, we expanded the footprint of the ensuite to allow for a wet room which now accommodates a large walk-in shower and separate bathtub. This was achieved by integrating the original walk-in closet space into the footprint of the ensuite.
THE BEFORE
The ensuite had its original teal blue toilet, sink and tub and was only slightly larger than a powder room. The primary bedroom's carpet had seen better days and upon removal revealed beautiful original hardwood flooring that transformed the room.
THE DESIGN SELECTIONS
In keeping with that spa look, we found a beautiful classic tile that we used throughout the room, on the floors as well as the walls of the shower and tub enclosure. The vanity colour adds an element of warmth to this stunning ensuite.
IN THE DETAILS
Working with the newly expanded square footage quickly allowed for creating two distinct areas that both boast their own purposes, while doing so in a way that is comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. The wet room acts a spa oasis, complete with custom glass wall and door, full wall and floor tile, two wall niches one for the shower area and one for the tub. The custom quartz shower bench sits neatly next to the side of the tub creating a smooth transition between the two bathing areas.
THE DESIGN
The plumbing fixtures for both the shower and bathtub are located on the same wall keeping the room visually clean and equally as functional. The addition of grab bars throughout the space allows for peace of mind and the longevity of the usefulness of this ensuite as the homeowner ages in place.
STORAGE
The homeowner was happy to relocate their closet contents into new full height cabinetry that now flank either side of the bedroom window. To tie that wall and cabinetry all together, a cabinet bench was installed under the window for additional storage and table top surface.
THE FINALE
The dry area of the ensuite, houses the prefabricated oak vanity and contemporary toilet, with associated grab bar for safety and comfort. The door to the ensuite leads directly from the dry area to the primary bedroom, creating the ideal entry point. The warm wood finish of the vanity paired with the chic wall sconces and statement mirror further create an overall welcoming and luxurious atmosphere. This ensuite’s transformation brought it from undersized and outdated to a space where serenity and calm washes over you and ….one will feel drained no more.
