Heart of the Home
This early 1900’s home underwent a kitchen addition in the mid 1990's. Having expanded the original footprint of the house to create a more expansive space, the dated aesthetic and layout left the current homeowners craving an update that would suit their family of four and breathe new life into the space.
THE VISION
It was important to the homeowners that we maintain a sense of the homes transitional charm in the renovated kitchen and ensure all storage and functional components be directly catered to their needs. It was also imperative that their love of colours and details was also incorporated throughout the space

THE PLAN
The homeowners enlisted the help of our design build team to create an modern space that would allow their busy family of four to enjoy it together on a daily basis, as well as offer the opportunity to host extended family and friends throughout the year.

THE BEFORE
Eliminating the ceiling’s skylight is an example of how simplifying the space provided the homeowners with the refined design they had been craving. Keeping the numerous windows throughout the space allows the view to be seen from all angles.

From Dreams to Reality
The location of perimeter cabinetry remained the same, however removing the full height cabinetry and wall oven, instantly created a more open feeling space with improved foot traffic circulation, thus allowing for an expanded island.

Consistency from space to space is what ties this whole home renovation together, and the result is classic and clean with a beautifully traditional twist.

The original built-in desk, which functioned as the paperwork hub back in the 1990’s, was replaced with additional pantry storage and a dry bar/ microwave station, which suits the modern requirements of the current homeowners.

THE FINALE
Bead board details on the back of the island, the custom hood fan cover, colourful patterned tile matting above the stove, the apron front sink and the accent colour of the additional cabinetry work together to create contrast with the timeless white elements.

The design details helped to elevate the heart of this home and really created a space where quality time can be enjoyed time and time again.
