Music to our Ears
This renovation project has been years in the making. The couple that owns the home bought it new in the mid 70’s and have enjoyed everything the home has to offer while raising their children. Now that the nest is empty, they made the decision to remain in the house and give it a modern-day update, along with added functionality they were missing in the original design.
THE PLAN
The renovation kept the structural integrity of the home and created both private spaces with spaces that encourage socialization with family and friends. Functionality was a main factor in this transformation, with every detail.
THE BEFORE
We just love showing before pictures. This kitchen had served its fair share of meals, however it was ready for something more modern, open, bright and functional.
THE DESIGN
Now that the nest is empty, they made the decision to remain in the house and give it a modern-day update, along with added functionality they were missing in the original design.
The kitchen was given a complete rejuvenation that is the envy of anyone serious about cooking and entertaining. The workspace, while not enlarged, has been designed to offer greater functionality and allow multiple people to cook together. The quartz backsplash adds dramatic elegance to the kitchen and harmonizes the details.
A coffee bar was added to create more functional counter space, while replacing the storage that the closet gave them. Doorways were widened to provide ample circulation space for entertaining or household chores. Pocket doors allow privacy without obstructing floor space.
THE HOME
This home was built to high standards for the day and has stood the test of time. One interesting aspect of the electrical system in this home is the aluminum wiring which has been updated and made safe throughout the house. Lighting has been updated throughout the main floor and all electrical outlets and switches through the entire home have been updated to their modern equivalents.
Although often tucked away, a laundry and powder room deserve to have character and make a big impact, just like other rooms in the home. We feel like we met this goal with these two beautiful rooms.
This full home renovation will give the home a new lease on life and many additional years of enjoyment to its owners.
