Ocean Blue Ensuite
Bringing the outdoors in, was the design directive for this ensuite renovation. What was once a well loved yet dated ensuite bathroom, in need of a little love and attention, is now a space that evokes the feeling of restoration, calm and joy, like that of a day at the beach.
THE CONCEPT
The bones of this space were in great space but it’s dark corner shower and disproportionate deck mount corner tub made the space feel cramped and uninspired. From uninspired to a space for pause and self-care this Ocean Blue ensuite was born.
THE PLAN
Bringing the outdoors in, was the design directive for this ensuite renovation. What was once a well loved yet dated ensuite bathroom, in need of a little love and attention, is now a space that evokes the feeling of restoration, calm and joy, like that of a day at the beach.
THE BEFORE
The original shower layout was tight and cramped and the corner tub took up more space than required.
THE DESIGN
The rendering phase provides an almost life-like feeling of what this ensuite will feel like when complete.
BRINGING IT ALL TOGETHER
The addition of the wall mounted heated towel rack, wall sconces and recessed mirror medicine cabinets are all items that elevate the experience of the ensuite’s users, while completing the overall custom look.
THE FINISHED SPACE
The natural light that the existing transom style windows provide into the space, were being under utilized. By expanding the shower space and having two sides wrapped in custom glass the light now reaches every corner of the bathroom and makes the larger footprint shower much more comfortable and enjoyable to use. By upgrading to a custom tiled curb-less shower floor, the whole space also appears larger while providing barrier free accessibility.
THE DETAILS
The brushed nickel plumbing fixtures throughout bring a clean, timeless feel aesthetic, while allowing the unique design elements such as the wall tile, vanity, bathtub and shower demand the attention they deserve.
THE FINISH
The new freestanding tub location along the window wall opens the footprint of the space, while providing ample circulation area around it. The double sink vanity is the perfect size to meet the functional and storage needs of the homeowner’s while it’s white oak finish breathes a warm and welcomed contrast to the overall cooler blue tones of the wall tile and paint.
