ARTium Design Build is seeking a Senior Designer. This is a challenging, multi-faceted position that requires a powerfully creative, well-organized, detail focused, motivated individual who has the ability to respond and adapt to an ever-changing environment. Successful candidates must possess a strong design vocabulary, and a proven track record bringing design projects from concept to completion.

The Senior Designer’s role will be centered on customer fulfillment through the design process. The Senior Designer will also be tasked with the advancement and improvement of the Design department through strategic initiatives, process and policy development, research and designer mentoring. The Senior Designer will work with all ARTium departments and employees as necessary to develop a creative and effective design department.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing the complete design process of assigned projects from start to end – from schematic to full drawing sets; establishing project direction & working within project budgets and schedules while providing on-site support to Lead Carpenters, trades, and others when required.

  • Lead and manage multiple projects and work with a team of designers, delegating & assigning tasks as necessary for assigned projects.

  • Prepare, issue and administer construction documentation consisting of: plans, elevations, details and specifications – to illustrate non-structural layouts, lighting, power and communications locations, reflected ceilings and lighting plans, door / lighting / paint schedules, materials, products and finishes, furniture selection, specifications and layouts & millwork in addition to shop drawing reviews.

  • Understand the requirements for a full set of plans of an interior space – life safety, building codes, and other technical elements – knowledgeable in the areas of design, drawing & details, finishes and building materials, specifications, codes, technical drawings, administration and business practices of interior design with complete construction administration through project close out.

  • Coordination of site visits & overall project management with focus on ensuring project timelines are completed as scheduled.

  • Liaise, coordinate & collaborate with external consultants – including but not limited to; clients, suppliers, trades, structural, mechanical, electrical engineers, and other specialty consultants when necessary.

  • Work towards a client budget within given timelines & budget restrictions; as set by Artium standards.

  • Foster & cultivate positive client relationships – be aware of Artium philosophy, standards and overall company outlook.

  • Actively seeks out current trends, products & resources.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Interior Design;

  • Minimum of 5 – 8 years related residential construction-based design experience.

  • Well versed using Chief Architect or AutoCAD 2016, Microsoft Office (incl. Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Adobe.

  • Excellent leadership skills with ability to anticipate client needs, effectively identify problem areas and negotiate/mediate when necessary to resolve issues.

  • Professional, client service-oriented and positive representative of the company.

  • Passion & flair for developing digital presentations, design narrative and other presentations to convey concept, design vision, etc. as well as exudes a sense of personal style.

  • Well-developed time management and project management skills are required to undertake multiple projects.

  • Ability to conduct site analysis – survey of existing building conditions & field measurements.

  • Problem solving skills, attention to detail, and motivation to learn - proactive, ability to stay organized and detailed in your own work for accuracy, omissions & legibility.

  • Personable with very good written and verbal communication skills, well-organized & effective problem-solver with strong hand-drawing skills.
