Pattern Drenching
Pattern drenching can transform a small space into an adventurous and memorable design statement. Maximalism, the opposite of minimalism, is IN with the use of multiple bold patterns, colours and textures for a visually engaging space. The key is to start with a neutral base and layer elements / patterns gradually to get a perfectly balanced design.
Saturated Colours & Colour Blocking
In addition to pattern-drenching, the use of rich and saturated colours in lieu of light and muted tones is becoming increasingly more popular. Some of the more daring applications are to colour-drench rooms in bold colours for moody vibes while also incorporating colour blocking painting techniques for impactful looks.
Wellness Spaces
The integration of wellness spaces into design has become a significant trend, reflecting a growing focus on a balance in daily life. Key features often include natural light, calming color palettes, organic materials, and plants or water features. Wellness spaces can range from meditation / yoga studios to spa-inspired bathrooms or even outdoor retreats. These spaces are tailored to the individual / family, emphasizing functionality while fostering tranquility.
Earthy Neutrals & Brown
Just like 2024, earthy and brown tones are still celebrated for their timeless elegance and grounding effect. These warm, natural hues evoke a sense of comfort and serenity, creating spaces that feel cozy yet sophisticated. Browns, ranging from deep chocolate to soft caramel, bring depth and richness, while beige tones offer versatile and light backdrops that complement a wide range of textures and materials.
Nautical / Seaside
Nautical or seaside-inspired design captures the essence of coastal living, bringing the relaxed, breezy feel of the ocean indoors. Key features include a palette dominated by crisp whites, blues, sandy beige tones, and natural materials like weathered wood, rope, rattan, linen, and striped patterns to encompass the seaside aesthetic. This design style blends functionality with whimsy, creating tranquil, uplifting spaces that transport you to a serene coastal retreat.
Statement Lighting
Statement lighting is a powerful element in interior design, serving as both a functional and artistic focal point within a space. These pieces go beyond illumination, acting as design anchors that elevate the overall aesthetic. By pairing striking fixtures with more understated surroundings, designers create a balanced yet impactful look that blends light and art seamlessly.
English Cottage
English cottage style in interior design is all about creating a cozy, charming, and timeless atmosphere that feels warm and inviting. Key features include floral patterns, soft textiles, a mix of antique or vintage-inspired furniture, exposed beams and curated collections of artwork to add a personal, lived-in feel. English cottage interiors embrace imperfection and charm, creating spaces that are both relaxed and steeped in character.
Curved Furniture
Curved furniture can bring warmth and flow into a contemporary space, balancing straight architectural lines while maintaining sophistication. 2025 will focus on casually comfortable furniture such as oversized sofas, deep-seated chairs and rounded edges, making it ideal for fostering conversation or lounging without compromising on style.
